Algeria–Russia Ties Focus on Upcoming Intergovernmental Commission Session — Attaf Meets Lavrov in Antalya

Ahmed Attaf, Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, held talks on Saturday in Antalya, Türkiye, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov, on the sidelines of the second day of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
The meeting provided an opportunity to review the various dimensions of the Algeria–Russia strategic partnership and to underline the shared interest in elevating it across multiple sectors, notably in anticipation of the next session of the Joint Governmental Commission, which both sides are currently preparing.
Discussions also touched on prospects for strengthening Arab–Russian and African–Russian relations, in the context of ongoing coordination over upcoming multilateral diplomatic engagements. Both ministers further exchanged assessments on a range of regional and international issues, including developments in the Middle East, the evolution of the Palestinian question, and the situation in the Sahel–Saharan region.
