ALGIERS, July 9 — Algeria and Slovenia are seeking to deepen bilateral investment cooperation, with officials from both countries exploring new mechanisms to strengthen institutional collaboration, facilitate business exchanges and promote investment opportunities across strategic sectors.

During a meeting held on Wednesday at the headquarters of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI), AAPI Director General Omar Rekkache and Slovenia’s Ambassador to Algeria, Urška Kramberger Mendek, reviewed avenues for expanding cooperation in investment promotion and investor facilitation, according to a statement issued by the agency.

Discussions focused on prospects for cooperation between the AAPI and SPIRIT Slovenia, the Slovenian public agency for entrepreneurship, internationalization, foreign investment and technology, with the aim of exchanging expertise and best practices in investment promotion, investor support services and information on investment opportunities available in both countries.

Rekkache presented the business environment and investment incentives available in Algeria, encouraging Slovenian companies to explore opportunities across a range of priority sectors, including pharmaceuticals, renewable energy, packaging solutions for the food and pharmaceutical industries, strategic agriculture—particularly soybean, maize and cotton cultivation—as well as mechanical industries, industrial subcontracting, plastics and polymer manufacturing.

The two sides also discussed ways to strengthen broader economic cooperation by encouraging the participation of Algerian companies in an upcoming economic exhibition in Slovenia and examining the possibility of organizing a bilateral business forum bringing together companies and investors from both countries.

The meeting reflects ongoing efforts by Algeria to expand international investment partnerships and attract foreign capital as part of its broader strategy to diversify the economy and strengthen non-hydrocarbon sectors.
