CREA, Opel discuss accelerating Algeria’s automotive industry development
The Algerian Economic Renewal Council (CREA) and Germany’s Opel discussed accelerating the development of Algeria’s automotive industry, with a focus on expanding local subcontracting and assessing the brand’s long-term growth prospects in the domestic market.

ALGIERS — The Algerian Economic Renewal Council (CREA) hosted a senior delegation from Germany’s Opel to discuss the development of Algeria’s automotive industry, with talks focusing on strengthening local industrial subcontracting and expanding the company’s presence in the Algerian market.
The delegation included Opel Chief Executive Officer Florian Huettl and Chairman Xavier Chéreau, who met with CREA President Kamel Moula as part of ongoing efforts to deepen industrial cooperation.
Focus on local industrial integration
According to CREA, discussions centred on accelerating the development of Algeria’s automotive sector by reinforcing the domestic subcontracting base, a key component of the country’s strategy to increase local industrial integration and strengthen manufacturing capabilities.
The two sides also explored future growth prospects for the Opel brand in Algeria, including opportunities to expand its activities in line with the country’s industrial development objectives.
CREA said the discussions form part of ongoing efforts to foster cooperation with leading international manufacturers and support the expansion of Algeria’s industrial ecosystem.
