Algeria will soon launch a one-stop digital window for exporters aimed at simplifying, digitising and accelerating export-related procedures, Trade Minister Kamel Rezig said on Thursday in Algiers.

Speaking at an information day on access to African markets under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), Rezig said the initiative is part of broader government efforts to support Algerian exporters, remove administrative bottlenecks and strengthen the competitiveness of national products in African markets.

He stressed that the government is working to improve the business environment for exports through digital tools and facilitation mechanisms designed to enhance Algeria’s commercial presence across the continent.

Rezig also recalled the creation of the Algerian Export Agency under Executive Decree No. 25-234 of 3 September 2025, describing it as part of efforts to reinforce export policy implementation and support operators in accessing African markets.

He underlined the strategic importance of AfCFTA, describing it as one of the world’s largest emerging economic spaces, with more than 1.3 billion consumers and significant potential for intra-African trade, investment and integrated value chains.

According to the minister, 25 member states have already removed customs duties on 90% of tariff lines since 1 January 2025, with the remaining tariffs set to be gradually phased out by 2030.

Rezig said Algeria is aiming to strengthen its position as a major economic actor in Africa and expand non-hydrocarbon exports, particularly in industry, agriculture, pharmaceuticals and services.

He also cited recent trade outcomes, including the Algerian products fair in Nouakchott, where 354 companies participated and 72 agreements were signed, as well as the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF) held in Algiers, which generated major contracts, including $11.4 billion in deals benefiting Algeria.

Separately, representatives of the Algerian Economic Renewal Council (CREA) called for the establishment of a “green corridor” to facilitate export procedures and improve logistics and human capacities in anticipation of growing African market demand.
