Chanegriha Oversees “EL AAHD 2026” Live-Fire Military Exercise in Algeria’s 5th Military Region

Algeria’s Armed Forces Chief of Staff, General Saïd Chanegriha, on Thursday supervised a live-fire tactical exercise titled “EL AAHD 2026” at the Amdoukal firing and manoeuvres field in the country’s 5th Military Region, according to a statement from the Ministry of National Defence.
The exercise was carried out by the 7th Armoured Brigade with support from air force, air defence, border guard and logistics units as part of the 2025–2026 combat preparation programme of the Algerian People’s National Army.
According to the ministry, the drill was conducted under conditions simulating real operational scenarios and focused on strengthening command coordination, combat planning and inter-force operational integration.
The exercise also aimed to assess operational readiness, weapons-system deployment capabilities and the effectiveness of logistical support chains under varying field conditions.
The manoeuvres included an airborne operation executed with what the ministry described as “speed and precision,” while the overall exercise demonstrated the participating units’ capacity to conduct coordinated tactical missions using advanced military equipment and operational systems.
Chanegriha later met commanders and personnel involved in the exercise, commending the units for their combat preparation efforts and operational discipline during the training programme.
