ALGIERS – Political leaders campaigning for Algeria’s 2 July legislative elections underscored the importance of voter participation, institutional trust and socio-economic development on Saturday, the 12th day of the electoral campaign.

Addressing campaign rallies across several provinces, party leaders presented their programmes and reiterated calls for broad participation in what many described as a key milestone for strengthening democratic institutions and advancing national development objectives.

In Oran, Abdelkrim Benmbarek, Secretary General of the National Liberation Front (FLN), said the upcoming vote should serve as an opportunity to reaffirm “the free and sovereign will of the people”.

Speaking in Bordj Bou Arréridj, Mounder Bouden, Secretary General of the National Democratic Rally (RND), reaffirmed his party’s commitment to protecting citizens’ purchasing power and consolidating Algeria’s socio-economic gains.

In Annaba, Abdelkader Bengrina, president of the El Bina Movement, stressed that elected institutions derive their legitimacy from the confidence granted to them by voters through the ballot box.

Fatah Boutbig, president of El Moustakbal Front, said during a rally in Oran that Algeria possesses the necessary assets to strengthen its position as a leading economic, scientific and cultural power.

In Tizi Ouzou, Youcef Aouchiche, First National Secretary of the Socialist Forces Front (FFS), argued that direct citizen engagement and the exchange of ideas constitute the foundation for building strong institutions.

Addressing supporters in Relizane, Abdelali Hassani Cherif, president of the Movement of Society for Peace (MSP), said restoring citizens’ confidence in the political process and encouraging participation in the legislative elections is a shared responsibility across the political spectrum.

In Batna, Mohamed Douibi, Secretary General of the Ennahda Movement, described the elections as an opportunity for Algerians to choose representatives capable of conveying their concerns to both central and local authorities.

Tahar Benbaïbeche, president of the New Dawn ”El-Fadjr El-Jadid” Party, said in Relizane that his party’s programme prioritises addressing the concerns of young people and citizens through targeted policy solutions.

At a campaign event in Djelfa, Louisa Hanoune, Secretary General of the Workers’ Party (PT), said her party’s platform focuses on sustainable development and support for strategic sectors including industry, agriculture, fisheries and other wealth-generating activities.

In Mila, Lakhdar Amokrane, president of the New Generation “Jil Jadid” Party, pledged that his party would maintain close contact with constituents by supporting and monitoring its elected representatives and establishing local offices to remain attentive to citizens’ concerns.

Speaking in Constantine, Reda Benounane, president of Talaie El-Hourriyet Party, called for the election of competent candidates capable of contributing to the country’s development process.

Ahmed Laroussi Rouibet, president of El Wassit Essiyassi Party, told supporters in El Tarf that elected representatives must faithfully convey citizens’ concerns and place their interests at the centre of their work.

In Biskra, Mohamed Daoui, president of El Karama Party, described the 2 July elections as an important step towards strengthening Algeria’s institutional framework.

Fatima-Zohra Zerouati, president of Tajamou Amel El Djazair (TAJ) Party, said during a rally in Sidi Bel Abbès that future lawmakers would shoulder significant responsibilities requiring serious efforts to deliver tangible results and address current challenges.

In Saïda, Djamel Benziadi, president of the Freedom and Justice Party, described the elections as an opportunity to select qualified candidates capable of defending citizens’ interests and contributing to the consolidation of strong institutions.

Aïssa Belhadi, Secretary General of the Good Governance Front, said in Mostaganem that the legislative elections represent a major stage in Algeria’s democratic process and an opportunity to strengthen state institutions.

Also in Sidi Bel Abbès, Brikci Gormat Omar, president of the Algerian Youth Movement, said preserving a strong and prosperous Algeria is a collective responsibility requiring citizens to rally around state institutions.

In Mostaganem, Hamza Latreche, Secretary General of the National Republican Alliance, said the vote represents more than a ballot cast in the box, describing it as an expression of trust, responsibility and awareness in the face of growing domestic and international challenges.

While campaign messages varied across the political spectrum, most party leaders converged on the importance of enhancing voter participation, strengthening institutional legitimacy and promoting economic and social development ahead of the 2 July legislative elections.
