ALGIERS – The local cultural association “Biskra Teqraa” has been officially accredited as an observer to UNESCO, granting it a role within the United Nations cultural organisation as a representative of Algeria in this capacity.
The association, whose name means “Biskra Reads,” is active in promoting reading culture and preserving oral traditions and cultural heritage through storytelling and community-based initiatives.
The Ministry of Culture and Arts expressed appreciation for the achievement, highlighting the association’s contribution to fostering literacy and safeguarding intangible cultural practices, particularly the transmission of local customs and oral heritage.
