Republic Mediator Says In Guezzam Remains At The Heart Of State Priorities During Field Visit

ALGIERS – Algeria’s Republic Mediator, Mohamed Hattab, said on Saturday that the southern border province of In Guezzam remains a priority for the state, as he conducted a working visit aimed at assessing public service delivery and monitoring the implementation of government policies at the local level.
The visit, undertaken alongside In Guezzam Governor Noureddine Rafsa, forms part of broader efforts to implement President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s directives to improve the quality of public services and strengthen citizen engagement through enhanced field-based governance.
Speaking during the visit, Hattab stressed that In Guezzam should not be viewed as a remote region disconnected from national concerns, but rather as an area that occupies a central place in the state’s development agenda.
He emphasised that Algeria’s border regions constitute a strategic depth for the country and require sustained attention to ensure balanced territorial development, improve living conditions and enhance access to public services.
During the visit, the Republic Mediator inspected a number of public facilities and administrative structures to assess service provision and review the handling of citizens’ concerns.
Hattab said that direct engagement with local communities provides the most effective means of understanding citizens’ daily realities, evaluating the impact of public policies and identifying priorities requiring further action.
“The citizen remains the starting point for defining priorities and proposing appropriate solutions,” he said.
He added that the role of the Republic Mediator extends beyond receiving complaints and grievances, encompassing efforts to improve public sector performance by proposing measures aimed at strengthening the relationship between citizens and public administrations.
According to Hattab, the effectiveness of public services should ultimately be measured by the degree of citizen satisfaction with the services provided.
At the conclusion of the visit, he issued directives aimed at enhancing administrative performance and improving the quality of services delivered to residents.
Hattab also reaffirmed the Republic Mediator’s commitment to maintaining a sustained presence across the country in support of national efforts to advance equitable development and ensure balanced public service provision throughout Algeria under the guidance of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
