ALGIERS — Algeria’s Director General of National Security (DGSN), Ali Badaoui, on Wednesday inaugurated a series of new police facilities in Bordj Bou Arreridj, as authorities continue efforts to strengthen local security infrastructure and improve policing services across the country.

The inaugurations were held as part of celebrations marking the 64th anniversary of Algeria’s Independence and the Algerian Police Day, in the presence of the province’s governor (wali) Kamel Nouicer, alongside local civil, military and judicial officials.

Strengthening Community Policing

Badaoui began his visit by inaugurating the new headquarters of the Third Urban Police Station in the Ras El Oued district, a facility designed to reinforce the local security network and expand the operational presence of police services.

During a briefing, officials presented the organisational structure of the station, as well as the human and logistical resources allocated to support its operations.

Touring the facility, including its public reception area, Badaoui stressed the importance of a community-oriented policing approach based on prevention, responsiveness to citizens’ concerns and the delivery of high-quality public services.

Enhancing Crime Prevention

The Director General also underscored the need to intensify efforts to combat all forms of urban crime while ensuring policing standards continue to meet public expectations.

His visit concluded with the inauguration and commissioning of the Tenth Urban Police Station, where he highlighted the preventive and anticipatory role played by police officers in safeguarding people and property.

Badaoui further emphasized the importance of efficiently handling citizens’ complaints and strengthening communication and public trust between law enforcement agencies and local communities.

The newly inaugurated facilities form part of Algeria’s broader programme to modernise security infrastructure, enhance operational capabilities and expand the availability of public security services throughout the country.
