Algiers Airport Mobilises Full Logistics to Streamline Hajj Operations, Targets 10-Minute Baggage Delivery

Algiers International Airport says it is fully prepared to ensure smooth and comprehensive handling of pilgrims travelling to the holy sites for the 2026 Hajj season, according to its chief executive.
Mokhtar Mediouni told Sabq Press that the airport has recorded an increase in scheduled flights compared with last year, reflecting the state efforts to expand access for Algerian pilgrims.
He said last year’s Hajj operations had been a “significant success,” while acknowledging operational gaps that were subsequently addressed. Additional seasonal staffing was deployed to improve passenger processing and support services.
Mediouni highlighted a range of facilitation measures in place, including banking services from the Bank of Algeria branch at the airport to streamline currency allowance procedures. He added that all relevant services—police, customs, civil protection, medical assistance and Air Algérie—have been fully mobilised to ensure uninterrupted operations.
He also said the airport aims to further reduce processing times for baggage delivery, after recording an average of 19 minutes last year. The target this season, he added, is to bring that down to 10 minutes per passenger.
