Moroccan Activist Group Calls for End to Normalisation, Condemns Zionist Atrocities in Palestinian Territories

BY Dr. Hana Saada

A broad segment of Moroccan civil society has escalated its calls for the immediate termination of normalisation agreements with the Zioinist entity, issuing a forceful condemnation of the sustained violations targeting religious sites in the Palestinian territories, in the context of the ongoing war in Gaza.

In a strongly worded statement, the Moroccan Democratic Network for Solidarity with Peoples denounced Zionist actions affecting both Islamic and Christian holy sites, portraying these developments as part of a persistent and widening pattern that undermines the basis for continued engagement. The organisation urged Moroccan authorities to reverse the normalisation process without delay, arguing that its continuation under current circumstances is increasingly indefensible.

Referencing developments across Gaza, the West Bank, and El Quds, the group warned of mounting risks to religious sanctities and cultural heritage. Particular concern was expressed over repeated incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque, alongside reported incidents affecting churches and other places of worship, which the organisation described as emblematic of a broader escalation.

The statement further highlighted activities involving Zionist visitors in Moroccan cities, including public gatherings in Marrakech and Agadir, describing them as developments that have generated unease and that call for heightened scrutiny given the prevailing regional climate.

Beyond the immediate context, the organisation delivered a pointed critique of Morocco’s official policy of normalisation, arguing that it carries far-reaching political and societal implications. It called for a comprehensive reassessment of this policy, alongside increased public awareness and mobilisation, positioning the issue as one of national responsibility and ethical coherence.
