Algiers Police Dismantle Vehicle Theft Network, Recover 11 Stolen Cars
By Dr. Hana Saada
Police in Algiers have dismantled an organised criminal network specialising in vehicle theft, arresting six suspects and recovering 11 stolen cars, authorities said.
The operation was carried out by the judicial police brigade of the Dar El Beïda administrative district under the Algiers police authority, following a complaint from a citizen reporting the theft of his vehicle. Investigations led to the identification of the network’s members, including two individuals already subject to arrest warrants.
Acting under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor and pursuant to authorised search and jurisdictional extension warrants, police conducted coordinated operations that resulted in the seizure and recovery of 11 vehicles. Officers also confiscated DZD 145,000 and €850 in cash, along with nine forged vehicle registration documents and rental contracts linked to the vehicles under investigation.
Upon completion of legal procedures, the suspects were brought before the public prosecutor at the Dar El Beïda tribunal in Algiers.
