The Port of Annaba received on Monday evening a substantial shipment of equipment intended to reinforce ongoing construction works on the Bouchegouf–Dréa railway section, part of the strategic East Mining Railway Line project.
According to a statement issued by the Annaba Port Authority, the delivery includes a total of 120 pieces of machinery and various heavy equipment designated for deployment across worksites, alongside 7,000 tonnes of metal structures and beams for bridge construction, as well as 23,000 tonnes of railway rails allocated to the national-scale infrastructure project.
The same source indicated that the shipment is intended to support construction activities along the 121-kilometre railway segment linking Bouchegouf to Dréa, a key component of Algeria’s broader eastern mining transport corridor.
To ensure the smooth handling of the operation, the Port of Annaba mobilised its full human, logistical, technical, and organisational capacities. Port authorities said this mobilisation reflects the facility’s role in facilitating large-scale national infrastructure projects, particularly through the coordination and processing of maritime shipments of heavy industrial equipment.
The operation falls within the framework of directives issued by the Minister of Interior, Local Assemblies and Transport, Saïd Sayoud, aimed at supporting strategic national projects and ensuring optimal conditions for vessels transporting infrastructure-related equipment.
It also aligns with the orientations of the Serport Group, which has emphasised its commitment to strengthening logistical support for major economic and industrial development initiatives across Algeria.
