BY Dr. Hana Saada

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Kamel Baddari, announced that nine Algerian universities have been included in the US News Best Global Universities ranking, which lists the top 2,250 higher education institutions worldwide.

In a statement posted on his official Facebook account, the minister highlighted that Djillali Liabès University of Sidi Bel Abbès ranked first nationally and 849th globally, thereby joining the group of the world’s top 1,000 universities.

He described this achievement as evidence of ongoing improvements within Algeria’s higher education system in terms of academic performance, scientific research output, and international visibility. According to him, it also reflects sustained efforts to enhance training quality, strengthen research production, and improve the global standing of Algerian universities.

The US News Best Global Universities ranking is considered one of the leading international benchmarks for evaluating higher education institutions. It is based on criteria including scientific research output, citation impact, academic reputation, and international collaboration with research institutions worldwide.
