Algeria Dispatches Vocational Training Experts to Niger and Chad to Deepen Technical Cooperation

Algeria has launched technical missions to Niger and Chad to assess vocational training needs and implement bilateral cooperation agreements, as part of a broader strategy to strengthen African partnerships through skills development, capacity building and knowledge transfer.

ALGIERS — Algeria has begun implementing President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s directives to deepen cooperation with Niger and Chad by deploying technical missions to both countries to support the development of their vocational education and training systems.

The Ministry of Vocational Training and Education said the missions are designed to conduct comprehensive assessments of the vocational training sectors in the two neighbouring countries while translating existing bilateral cooperation agreements into operational programmes tailored to each country’s priorities and development needs.

The Algerian delegations held a series of technical meetings with experts and senior officials from the vocational training sectors of Algeria, Niger and Chad, reviewing the organisation of training systems, identifying institutional needs at both national and local levels, and laying the groundwork for practical cooperation programmes.

As part of the missions, Algerian experts also conducted field visits to public and private vocational training institutions, workshops, laboratories and technical training platforms.

The visits enabled the delegations to assess infrastructure, teaching methodologies, technical equipment, institutional management practices and the links between training centres and local labour market requirements.

The evaluations identified priority areas requiring support, including institutional capacity building, improving the performance of training centres, strengthening pedagogical supervision and aligning vocational programmes more closely with labour market demands.

Cooperation to Focus on Skills Development

The technical consultations resulted in agreement on several concrete initiatives, including the launch of training programmes for vocational instructors covering both pedagogical and technical disciplines.

The cooperation framework also provides for strengthening the capacities of senior officials and vocational training centre managers, expanding expertise in curriculum development and vocational training engineering, and promoting the exchange of educational resources, specialised documentation and technical know-how between the participating institutions.

In addition, the partners agreed to develop specialised training programmes for trainees in disciplines linked to major infrastructure and development projects, with the aim of preparing a skilled workforce capable of supporting national economic development plans and responding to labour market needs.

The agreed roadmap also includes the preparation of detailed implementation schedules, the identification of institutional support requirements, the establishment of twinning partnerships between vocational training centres, the expansion of distance learning programmes and the introduction of joint monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to ensure the effective implementation of the agreements.

The initiative reflects Algeria’s broader commitment to promoting practical African cooperation through the transfer of expertise, technical assistance and institutional capacity building.
