Sonatrach Expands Energy Transition Partnership with Bosch and Siemens Energy
Algeria’s Sonatrach has signed two strategic cooperation agreements with Germany’s Bosch and Siemens Energy to advance green hydrogen, industrial digitalisation, equipment maintenance and low-carbon technologies, reinforcing the growing Algerian-German partnership in the energy transition.

ALGIERS — Algeria’s state-owned energy company Sonatrach has signed two strategic memoranda of understanding with German industrial groups Bosch and Siemens Energy, expanding bilateral cooperation in renewable energy, green hydrogen and advanced industrial technologies.
The agreements were concluded in Berlin on the sidelines of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s official visit to Germany and, according to Sonatrach, are expected to further strengthen Algerian-German cooperation in the field of energy transition.
The first agreement, signed with Bosch, focuses on identifying partnership opportunities for the development of Algeria’s green hydrogen industry.
Under the memorandum, the two companies will explore projects related to the local manufacture of electrolysers, the production of green hydrogen and the exchange of technological expertise and industrial know-how.
The partnership supports Algeria’s long-term strategy of developing a domestic green hydrogen industry capable of supplying both local demand and future export markets.
The second agreement, concluded with Siemens Energy, provides for expanded cooperation in equipment maintenance and repair, technical training, green hydrogen technologies and industrial compression solutions.
The partners will deploy joint teams of experts to develop innovative technological solutions aimed at improving industrial performance, expanding predictive maintenance capabilities and accelerating the digital transformation of industrial operations.
The agreement also includes cooperation to promote value chains linked to green steel and green ammonia, while strengthening technology transfer through specialised technical and managerial training programmes.
According to Sonatrach, the partnerships form part of the company’s broader strategy to develop sustainable energy solutions and support Algeria’s transition towards a low-carbon economy.
The agreements build on the wider package of 31 strategic accords signed during President Tebboune’s visit to Germany, which elevated Algerian-German cooperation across energy, industry, transport, pharmaceuticals and advanced technologies.
Together with Sonatrach’s recently signed natural gas supply agreement with Germany’s VNG, the new partnerships underscore Algeria’s ambition to consolidate its position as both a reliable conventional energy supplier and an emerging regional hub for clean energy and hydrogen production.
