Algeria and Germany Sign 31 Strategic Agreements to Deepen Industrial and Economic Partnership
Algeria and Germany signed 31 agreements, memoranda of understanding and partnership deals at the Algerian-German Economic Forum in Berlin, expanding cooperation across energy, industry, transport, pharmaceuticals, digital technologies and investment during President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s official visit.

BERLIN — Algeria and Germany signed 31 agreements, memoranda of understanding (MoUs) and partnership accords on Friday, significantly expanding bilateral cooperation across a broad range of strategic sectors during the Algerian-German Economic Forum, held as part of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s official visit to Germany.
The forum brought together senior government officials, business leaders and investors from both countries, underscoring a shared commitment to strengthening economic and industrial ties through high-value investment projects, technology transfer and long-term industrial partnerships.
Energy emerged as the cornerstone of the agreements.
Sonatrach and German energy company VNG signed a memorandum of understanding launching negotiations on renewing their natural gas export contract and increasing supplies to the German market, reinforcing Algeria’s position as a strategic energy partner for Europe.
In a separate agreement, Sonatrach partnered with Bosch to explore the local manufacture of electrolysers for green hydrogen production, supporting Algeria’s ambitions to become a regional player in the emerging hydrogen economy and accelerating its energy transition strategy.
The pharmaceutical sector also featured prominently, with Saidal Group and Boehringer Ingelheim signing two partnership agreements.
The first provides for the local production of four innovative pharmaceutical molecules used in the treatment of diabetes, heart failure and kidney disease, while the second establishes scientific cooperation in research and development between the two countries.
Transport infrastructure recorded another major breakthrough with the signing of five memoranda of understanding involving Siemens Mobility, Algeria’s National Railway Transport Company (SNTF) and the Algiers Metro Company (EMA).
The agreements focus on railway and urban transport development, technology transfer, skills enhancement and the modernisation of Algeria’s transport infrastructure.
The accords also extend to a wide spectrum of strategic industries, including automotive manufacturing, industrial equipment, digital technologies, infrastructure, steel production, biotechnology, medical equipment, battery manufacturing, renewable energy, solar-powered seawater desalination, wood processing industries, veterinary pharmaceuticals and equipment for the hydrocarbons sector.
Tourism cooperation was strengthened through a partnership between Boussof Fateh Group and Fleming Hotels, covering the franchise management of a 600-bed tourism complex in the southern city of Touggourt.
In the digital energy sector, Sonatrach and Sonelgaz signed two memoranda of understanding with German technology company Live EO GmbH to develop advanced digital solutions for Algeria’s energy and gas industries.
Meanwhile, the Algerian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK Algeria) and the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CACI) concluded a cooperation agreement aimed at facilitating trade, supporting businesses and promoting bilateral investment.
The agreements complement several major announcements made during President Tebboune’s visit, including Opel’s confirmation of plans to establish an integrated automotive manufacturing complex in Algeria featuring the country’s first local engine production facility, as well as expanded cooperation in renewable energy, hydrogen technologies and advanced manufacturing.
The breadth of the agreements reflects a growing convergence between Algerian and German industrial priorities, with both countries placing greater emphasis on technology transfer, innovation, industrial integration and productive investment.
Taken together, the accords mark one of the most comprehensive packages of bilateral economic agreements signed between Algeria and Germany in recent years, opening a new chapter in their strategic partnership centred on sustainable growth, industrial development and long-term economic cooperation.
