TIPAZA, Algeria — Algeria’s Minister of Interior, Local Assemblies and Transport, Saïd Sayoud, on Monday presided over the graduation ceremony of the 51st class of the National Higher Maritime School in Bou Ismaïl, Tipaza Province, highlighting the government’s commitment to developing a highly qualified workforce for the country’s maritime transport industry.

The ceremony was attended by local civil and security authorities, senior officials from the transport sector and the families of graduating students.

A total of 88 maritime officers graduated during the ceremony, including 58 graduates awarded master’s degrees in Navigation Sciences and Marine Engineering, alongside 30 port officers.

The graduation forms part of Algeria’s broader strategy to strengthen national expertise in maritime transport, port operations and logistics by investing in specialised higher education and professional training.

The newly qualified officers are expected to contribute to the development and modernisation of Algeria’s maritime transport and port infrastructure, supporting the country’s efforts to enhance the efficiency and competitiveness of its maritime sector.

The initiative reflects the state’s continued emphasis on building skilled national human capital capable of meeting the evolving requirements of the shipping industry and accompanying the expansion of Algeria’s maritime economy.
