Algeria Signs 52 Trade Agreements in Nouakchott Export Fair
By Dr. Hana Saada
Algeria has signed 25 new agreements and memoranda of understanding with Mauritanian economic operators, bringing the total to 52 accords concluded during the 8th edition of the Algerian Products and Services Fair in Nouakchott, the Ministry of Foreign Trade said.
The signing ceremony took place at the permanent exhibition centre for Algerian products in Nouakchott, in the presence of Algeria’s ambassador to Mauritania Amin Sid, representatives of the Mauritanian employers’ union, Algerian exporters’ organisations, and business operators from both countries.
The ministry said the agreements cover industrial manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, mining, electrical cables, healthcare services, mechanical industries, medical supplies and start-up solutions, alongside institutions linked to higher education, scientific research and water resources sectors.
It said the results reflect the fair’s role as a business platform for partnerships and investment, supporting Algerian companies’ access to the Mauritanian and broader African markets.
The ministry added that the initiative is part of efforts to support exporters through direct business matchmaking and to expand Algeria’s export base.
Several Algerian companies signed cooperation deals with Mauritanian counterparts during the event.
Authorities and institutions in Mauritania were also honoured for facilitating the organisation of the fair and supporting economic cooperation.
