Omar Rekkache Says Algeria Is Advancing African Investment Integration Through Expanding Continental Partnerships

Algeria used the opening of the 12th African Investment and Trade Forum on Saturday to position itself as a growing driver of continental economic integration, with Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI) Director General Omar Rekkache highlighting expanding partnerships across Africa and rising intra-African trade momentum.
Speaking at the forum, Rekkache pointed to deepening economic cooperation with several African countries, including Chad, Zimbabwe, Rwanda and Niger, as Algiers accelerates efforts to strengthen its commercial and investment presence across the continent.
He cited the recent Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF) hosted in Algiers, alongside the expansion of Algerian public banking networks into Sub-Saharan Africa, as part of broader efforts to facilitate cross-border trade and financial connectivity.
Rekkache also highlighted a recent AAPI initiative that brought together 31 African investment promotion agencies, describing the meeting as a mechanism for strengthening coordination, exchanging expertise and improving investment frameworks across the continent.
He described the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) as a strategic instrument for advancing African economic integration and expanding regional market access.
The remarks underscore Algeria’s broader push to consolidate its position as a regional investment and trade hub linking North Africa to emerging Sub-Saharan markets amid intensifying continental competition for capital and strategic influence.
