Algeria to launch plastic auto components plant in Tissemsilt in September

Algeria is set to bring a new plastics manufacturing unit online in September as part of efforts to deepen local integration in the automotive sector, Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb said during a visit to Tissemsilt.
The “General Plastic Injection” (GPI) facility will produce plastic components and accessories for car manufacturing, using advanced technologies, according to official statements.
The project forms part of a broader policy to reintegrate assets confiscated by the courts into the productive economy, in line with directives from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. Authorities say the plant is expected to support domestic supply chains and reduce reliance on imports by increasing the local content of automotive production.
Beyond its industrial role, the investment is also positioned as a regional development driver, extending Tissemsilt’s dedicated development programme and contributing to job creation and economic activity in the area.
