Algeria, Turkey Seal Wide-Ranging Cooperation Deals at Ankara Strategic Council Session

Algeria and Turkey signed a series of bilateral cooperation agreements Thursday in Ankara covering industry, trade, agriculture, media, transport, investment and administrative coordination, during a ceremony co-chaired by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the presidential complex.
The package includes a cooperation protocol between Algeria’s public broadcaster EPTV and Turkey’s TRT, signed by Algeria’s ambassador in Ankara Boumédiène Guennad and TRT Director-General Mehmet Zahid Sobaci.
Investment cooperation was reinforced through an agreement between Algeria’s AAPI and Turkey’s Presidency Investment and Finance Office, signed by AAPI Director-General Omar Rekkache and Turkish counterpart Burak Dağlioğlu.
A memorandum between Algeria’s Ministry of Communication and Turkey’s presidential communications directorate targets cooperation on combating disinformation, signed by Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf and Turkish Communications Director Burhanettin Duran.
Trade and industrial cooperation advanced with a joint declaration launching negotiations on a preferential trade agreement between the two countries, signed by Trade Ministers Kamel Rezig and Ömer Bolat.
Agricultural cooperation was formalised through an agreement on plant protection and agricultural quarantine signed by Agriculture Ministers Yacine El-Mahdi Oualid and İbrahim Yumaklı.
Industrial and SME development cooperation included memoranda on standardisation, conformity assessment, training and SME support signed by Industry Ministers Yahia Bachir and Mehmet Fatih Kacır.
Interior ministries signed agreements on disaster and emergency management as well as mutual recognition of driving licences, involving ministers Saïd Sayoud and Mustafa Çiftci.
Additional accords covered transport, including international road transport of passengers and goods, and postal and telecommunications cooperation between both governments.
Social and historical cooperation was also addressed through an agreement on the protection of veterans and families of martyrs, signed by Attaf and Turkish Family Minister Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş.
The session concluded with Tebboune and Erdoğan signing the joint declaration of the first Algerian-Turkish High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, formalising an expanded framework for long-term bilateral coordination.
