Algeria Welcomes U.S.–Iran Framework Agreement, Backs International Mediation Efforts

ALGIERS — Algeria on Monday welcomed the framework agreement reached between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran aimed at ending military operations in the Gulf and broader Middle East region, expressing hope that the deal would pave the way for lasting peace and stability.
In a statement, Algeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs said it viewed the agreement as an important step towards de-escalation and the restoration of regional security.
The framework agreement, announced on Sunday, provides for the cessation of military operations and establishes a basis for further negotiations between Washington and Tehran following months of heightened tensions in the region.
Algeria also expressed its “deep appreciation” for international mediation efforts that contributed to the breakthrough, with particular recognition given to Pakistan and Qatar for their diplomatic initiatives.
The ministry stressed the importance of all parties adhering to the commitments and understandings reached under the agreement, underscoring that sustained engagement and respect for agreed terms would be essential to ensuring its successful implementation.
Algeria further voiced hope that the accord would serve as a solid foundation for rebuilding trust among the parties concerned and fostering conditions conducive to resolving outstanding issues through dialogue and diplomacy.
“The agreement should contribute to establishing a favourable climate for the search for definitive solutions to all unresolved matters, in a manner that guarantees lasting peace, security and stability across the region,” the ministry said.
The announcement comes amid broader international support for the U.S.–Iran framework agreement, with governments and international organisations welcoming the diplomatic breakthrough as a significant step towards reducing tensions in the Middle East and safeguarding regional stability.
