BY Dr. Hana Saada
ORAN — Training sessions under the national “Sanaa” programme, initiated by the Ministry of Vocational Training and Education to strengthen youth skills and provide new professional competencies, were officially launched on Monday across several western wilayas of Algeria.
In Oran, the official launch took place at the “Chahid Bouzid-Boujemaa” Vocational Training and Apprenticeship Centre. According to the acting director of Vocational Training and Education in the wilaya, Belarbi Sid-Ahmed, more than 7,800 young people have enrolled in the initiative, which aims to provide either professional training or skills enhancement during the summer period.
The programme mobilised 17 training establishments and 72 instructors to ensure proper implementation and supervision. It targets young people aged between 15 and 27, including students, university learners, and job seekers seeking practical vocational training, reflecting the sector’s effort to respond to diverse needs.
In El Bayadh, the training sessions have also begun, with approximately 1,150 participants enrolled across various communes. Beneficiaries are distributed across six specialisations, including building painting, electrical installation, plasterboard (BA13), plumbing, welding, and refrigeration and air conditioning.
Authorities in the wilaya have mobilised human and material resources to ensure the success of the programme, which will run until July 30 across ten training institutions, including national institutes and vocational centres distributed across different districts.
In Tiaret, 2,132 young participants have joined 18 training establishments selected for the programme. The training covers practical skills in fields such as building electricity, painting, welding, refrigeration, plumbing, and plasterwork, and is supervised by 63 trainers. The sessions are scheduled to continue until July 5, with all necessary pedagogical equipment and safety measures provided.
In Naâma, the practical phase has started in five training institutions, involving 867 young beneficiaries aged between 15 and 27. According to local vocational training director Ahmed Chaïb-Draa, the initiative aims to equip participants with skills aligned with labour market needs. Training is delivered by 22 instructors across 14 pedagogical groups, with sessions running until July 30.
In Mascara, more than 2,800 registrations were recorded via the “Sanaa” digital platform, with trainees enrolled in various trades including painting, welding, plumbing, electrical installation, refrigeration, and plastering. Successful participants will receive qualification certificates upon completion.
In Tlemcen, over 3,385 trainees are taking part in the programme, distributed across vocational training centres and institutes. Training is organised into two sessions running from June 15 to July 30, each comprising 90 hours of theoretical and practical instruction leading to professional certification.
The “Sanaa” programme aims to bring vocational training closer to young people and provide a structured environment for acquiring skills in line with labour market demands. It is part of the national strategy to modernise vocational education, improve training quality, and expand practical learning opportunities to facilitate youth integration into employment.
