Algerian Economic Renewal Council leads high-level business delegation to United States for SelectUSA Summit 2026
BY Dr. Hana Saada
Algiers, May 3 – The Algerian Economic Renewal Council (CREA), in coordination with the United States Embassy in Algiers and with support from Algeria’s diplomatic representation in Washington, is leading a high-level economic delegation to the United States, according to a statement issued by the Council.
The delegation comprises around 30 chief executives and senior leaders of major Algerian companies operating across key economic sectors, alongside representatives of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency.
The visit forms part of Algeria’s participation in the SelectUSA Investment Summit 2026, scheduled to take place from May 3 to 6 in Maryland, an initiative led by the commercial section of the U.S. Embassy in Algiers. The event aims to strengthen Algerian-American economic relations and expand investment cooperation.
Led by CREA president Kamel Moula, the delegation will engage with U.S. economic actors, including corporations and investment and trade promotion agencies, to explore opportunities for partnership across a range of strategic sectors.
The mission will also see sustained participation from the acting head of mission at the U.S. Embassy in Algeria, Marc Shapiro, throughout the summit proceedings.
According to CREA, this marks the second consecutive participation in the SelectUSA Investment Summit, following the 2025 edition, during which the Algerian delegation ranked first among North African countries and was classified among the most prominent participating delegations.
The Council said Algeria’s strong presence in the previous edition had a positive impact on international stakeholders, reinforcing the country’s visibility within global investment forums.
The 2026 delegation has been prepared in close coordination between CREA and U.S. diplomatic services in Algiers, ensuring broad representation of Algeria’s economic ecosystem. A series of bilateral meetings is scheduled in Washington with senior officials from U.S. institutions, government bodies, and private sector actors.
Discussions are expected to focus on strengthening bilateral trade and investment ties, while Algerian representatives will also present updates on efforts to improve the business climate, modernise regulatory frameworks, and enhance Algeria’s attractiveness as an investment destination.
CREA said the delegation’s participation in SelectUSA 2026, combined with high-level meetings in Washington, provides an opportunity to showcase Algeria’s economic potential and reflect ongoing public policy reforms across strategic sectors under national development priorities.
