Algerian Red Crescent Deploys 3,000 Volunteers to Support Pilgrims Nationwide

The Algerian Red Crescent (ARC) has deployed 3,000 volunteers across 11 international airports nationwide to assist pilgrims, reinforcing its operational role in large-scale citizen support during peak mobility periods.
In a statement, the ARC said the initiative reflects its sustained commitment to public assistance under all circumstances, forming part of a structured mobilisation of human and logistical resources to ensure efficient service delivery at key international transit points.
The deployed volunteers, trained in first aid, are tasked with accompanying pilgrims—particularly elderly travellers—from arrival through to the completion of all travel procedures. The operation aims to streamline airport processes, reduce vulnerability, and ensure safe and dignified conditions for pilgrims.
The ARC added that the initiative aligns with its broader strategic objective of supporting national efforts to improve service quality for pilgrims, within an integrated framework combining humanitarian action and public service coordination.
The organisation also participated on April 29 in the departure ceremony of the first pilgrim flight to the Holy Sites from Houari Boumediene International Airport, alongside institutional stakeholders overseeing pilgrimage logistics.
