Algeria’s Education Ministry Adopts Apostille System for Official Document Authentication
Algeria’s Ministry of National Education has officially adopted the Apostille system for the authentication of diplomas and public documents, streamlining procedures for documents intended for use abroad in countries party to the Hague Apostille Convention.

ALGIERS, Algeria — Algeria’s Ministry of National Education announced on Tuesday the official adoption of the Apostille system for the authentication of diplomas and public documents, marking a significant step toward simplifying administrative procedures for citizens seeking to use official Algerian documents abroad.
According to a ministry statement, the new measure applies to all public documents issued by the Ministry’s central administration, the provincial Directorates of Education, as well as diplomas and academic documents issued by public educational institutions operating under the Ministry’s supervision.
The Ministry stated that, since 9 July 2026, citizens seeking Apostille certification must submit their applications through the dedicated national digital platform available at apostille.gov.dz.
Applicants are required to complete all prescribed procedures through the platform, beginning with obtaining the original document from the issuing institution, followed by its signature and submission for Apostille certification before it can be used abroad.
The Ministry explained that the introduction of the Apostille system forms part of Algeria’s implementation of the Hague Convention of 5 October 1961 Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents.
The reform aims to simplify the authentication process for official Algerian documents intended for use in countries that are parties to the Convention, eliminating the need for the traditional and often lengthy diplomatic legalization procedures.
The adoption of the Apostille system is part of Algeria’s broader efforts to modernize public administration, expand digital public services, and facilitate administrative procedures for citizens both at home and abroad.
