Algiers Metro Launches E-Ticketing App in Push to Accelerate Transport Digitalisation

Algiers Metro operator has launched a new digital application, El Metro, as part of the state’s broader drive to digitise public services and modernise urban transport infrastructure, in line with directives aimed at improving service quality and efficiency.
According to the operator, the application is designed to streamline daily commuting by enabling users to purchase tickets and subscriptions directly via mobile devices. It also introduces electronic ticketing through QR code technology, intended to reduce waiting times, ease passenger flows and enhance transactional convenience.
The initiative forms part of a wider shift towards the digitalisation of public transport services, reflecting efforts to modernise operational systems and improve user experience across urban mobility networks.
Users are encouraged to download the application via the Google Play Store, where it is already available, as authorities continue to expand digital service offerings within the public transport sector.
