Algeria’s Speaker of the People’s National Assembly, Brahim Boughali, held separate meetings with Nelly Butete Kashumba Mutti, Speaker of Zambia’s National Assembly, and Thoko Didiza, Speaker of South Africa’s National Assembly, during the 152nd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Turkey.

The exchanges formed part of a wider effort to strengthen parliamentary diplomacy and expand institutional ties with African legislatures within multilateral forums.

Talks with the Zambian Speaker centred on the state of bilateral relations and prospects for their expansion across multiple fields. Both sides underscored the importance of elevating parliamentary cooperation through closer coordination, sustained communication, and more structured institutional engagement between the two legislatures.

The two officials also exchanged views on issues of mutual concern, reflecting a shared emphasis on dialogue as a mechanism for reinforcing political and parliamentary convergence.

In a separate meeting with South Africa’s National Assembly Speaker, discussions focused on consolidating parliamentary cooperation through practical mechanisms, including the exchange of legislative expertise and the intensification of reciprocal visits between parliamentary delegations.

Both sides highlighted the importance of sustained coordination and regular consultation in strengthening bilateral ties, while also addressing regional and international issues of shared concern within an evolving continental and global parliamentary context.
