Police in Algiers have arrested a suspect in connection with a public indecency offence following an incident that occurred on a bus in the capital.
The ninth urban security unit of Bir Mourad Raïs said the arrest followed the circulation of a video on social media showing a young man harassing a female passenger while she was on board a bus. Acting on the footage and after verifying its authenticity under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor, investigators identified the suspect, who works as a bus conductor for a passenger transport company, and arrested him at a transport station.
The suspect was presented before the public prosecutor at the Bir Mourad Raïs tribunal on charges of public indecency in a public place and infringement of the sexual integrity of individuals.
