ANP Chief of Staff Installs New Head of Operations and Readiness Department

ALGIERS, June 17 — General Saïd Chanegriha, Algeria’s Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defence and Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army (ANP), on Wednesday officially installed Major General Hamid Fekkane as Head of the Employment and Preparation Department of the ANP General Staff, replacing Major General Belkacem Hasnat.
The appointment was carried out on behalf of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defence, during a ceremony held at the ANP General Staff headquarters, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of National Defence (MDN).
Addressing officers and personnel during the ceremony, General Chanegriha said the appointment was made in accordance with the relevant presidential decree and called on members of the department to carry out their duties in line with military regulations and the laws of the Republic.
“I order you to work under his authority, follow his directives and execute his instructions in the interest of the service, in accordance with the military regulations in force and the laws of the Republic, while remaining faithful to the sacrifices of our valiant martyrs and the values of our Glorious Revolution,” the MDN statement quoted him as saying.
The ministry said the ceremony also provided an opportunity for General Chanegriha to deliver a series of instructions and guidelines to the department’s personnel, underscoring the need for continued commitment, discipline and dedication in carrying out their missions.
According to the statement, the ANP Chief of Staff stressed that rapid developments in modern warfare require intensified efforts in training, force preparation and skills development.
“The significant advances observed on modern battlefields oblige us to redouble our efforts, particularly in terms of enhancing preparation, training and capability development, improving the combat readiness of personnel and units, and optimising the operational preparedness of the ANP’s battle corps,” he said.
General Chanegriha also emphasised the importance of adapting military training methods to contemporary weapons systems and evolving security challenges at both regional and international levels.
“It is imperative to ensure that our forces remain adequately prepared and trained through the adoption of the most appropriate methods suited to the modern weapons systems in service, as well as to the complex challenges and stakes at the regional and international levels, so that our armed forces retain the ability to accomplish their missions under all circumstances,” he added.
The ceremony concluded with the signing of the official handover protocol, the ministry said.
