ANP Reports Terrorist Surrender, Arrests of 10 Supporters in Weekly Security Operations
Algeria’s People’s National Army said one terrorist surrendered to military authorities in Bordj Badji Mokhtar during the past week, while 10 terrorist supporters were arrested as security forces also intensified operations targeting narcotics trafficking, illegal gold mining, smuggling and irregular migration.

ALGIERS — Algeria’s People’s National Army (ANP) announced on Wednesday that one terrorist surrendered to military authorities in Bordj Badji Mokhtar, while 10 supporters of terrorist groups were arrested during nationwide security operations conducted between July 29 and August 4, 2026.
According to the ANP’s weekly operational report, the individual, identified as “B.I.”, also known by the alias Abou Mohamed, surrendered to military authorities operating within the 6th Military Region. He was found in possession of a Kalashnikov-type assault rifle, ammunition and various military equipment.
During the same period, ANP detachments arrested 10 individuals accused of supporting terrorist groups in separate operations across the country, the military said.
The ANP also reported significant results in operations targeting organised crime and narcotics trafficking, conducted in coordination with the country’s security services.
According to the military, 21 drug traffickers were arrested, while security forces seized 121 kilograms of processed cannabis originating from Morocco’s borders, in addition to 588,947 psychotropic tablets confiscated in various military regions.
Operations in the southern provinces of Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, Illizi and In Guezzam also targeted illegal gold mining and smuggling networks.
The military said 53 individuals involved in illegal gold prospecting were arrested. Seized equipment included 21 vehicles, 244 power generators, 163 pneumatic drills, and substantial quantities of raw gold ore.
In separate anti-smuggling operations, security forces arrested seven additional individuals, seizing one Kalashnikov assault rifle, five hunting rifles, 22,838 litres of fuel, and five tonnes of food products.
Along Algeria’s coastline, the Coast Guard thwarted several attempts at irregular maritime migration, rescuing 83 people travelling aboard makeshift boats.
Meanwhile, security forces arrested 509 irregular migrants of various nationalities across the country during the reporting period, according to the ANP’s operational summary.
