Indian Embassy Invites Algerians to Share Their India Stories Ahead of 80th Independence Day
The Embassy of India in Algeria has invited Algerians and members of the Indian community to share personal stories, photographs and short videos reflecting their connections with India, as part of a public diplomacy initiative marking the country’s 80th Independence Day celebrations.

ALGIERS — The Embassy of India in Algeria has launched the #MyIndiaMyStory campaign, inviting members of the public to share personal experiences illustrating how India has influenced their lives through travel, education, culture, cinema or memorable personal encounters.
The initiative forms part of the celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of India’s Independence, while highlighting the role of cultural diplomacy in strengthening people-to-people ties between India and Algeria.
According to the Embassy, participants are encouraged to submit photographs, short videos or written personal stories describing their unique connections with India. Entries may focus on experiences ranging from visits to India and academic exchanges to cultural discoveries, Bollywood, traditional arts, cuisine or lasting personal memories associated with the country.
The campaign seeks to celebrate the diverse experiences that have brought India and Algeria closer together while showcasing the human dimension of the longstanding friendship between the two nations.
Promoting People-to-People Diplomacy
The initiative reflects India’s broader public diplomacy strategy, which increasingly places cultural engagement and citizen participation at the centre of its international outreach. Such initiatives complement the growing calendar of India–Algeria cultural exchanges, which in recent years has included cultural festivals, yoga events, artistic workshops, educational programmes and exhibitions promoting India’s rich civilisational heritage.
Winners to Be Honoured During Independence Day Celebrations
The Embassy announced that the three most outstanding submissions will be honoured during the official celebrations commemorating India’s 80th Independence Day.
Winning entries will also be featured across the Embassy’s official social media platforms, offering participants an opportunity to share their stories with a wider international audience.
Submissions should be sent by email to cultural.sectionalgeria@gmail.com, with the deadline for entries set for 12 August 2026.
Through the #MyIndiaMyStory campaign, the Embassy hopes to create a collective narrative highlighting the enduring cultural, educational and human connections that continue to deepen relations between India and Algeria beyond traditional diplomatic engagement.
