Attaf Opens Belarus Visit with Victory Monument Tribute, Delivers Tebboune Message to Lukashenko
Algeria’s foreign minister began his official visit to Minsk by honouring Second World War heroes before holding talks with President Alexander Lukashenko, where he conveyed a message from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and reviewed progress in implementing bilateral agreements reached following the Belarusian leader’s 2025 visit to Algeria.

MINSK — Algeria’s Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, on Thursday began his official visit to Belarus by laying a wreath at the Victory Monument in Minsk in tribute to the heroes who lost their lives during the Second World War.
According to a statement from Algeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the gesture was intended to honour the memory and sacrifices of those who gave their lives during the conflict, marking the opening of Attaf’s official visit to the Belarusian capital.
Later in the day, Attaf was received by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, where he conveyed the greetings of Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, together with his wishes for Lukashenko’s continued good health and happiness, as well as prosperity and progress for the Belarusian people.
The two sides reviewed the state of bilateral relations and assessed progress in implementing the outcomes of Lukashenko’s official visit to Algeria in December 2025, highlighting the positive momentum that continues to characterise cooperation between the two countries.
Speaking to the press after the meeting, Attaf welcomed the progress achieved in implementing bilateral commitments, stressing that President Tebboune remains committed to working closely with his Belarusian counterpart to elevate Algerian-Belarusian relations to broader levels of cooperation serving the interests of both countries and their friendly peoples.
