ANNABA, Algeria — Algeria expects to complete the relaunch of all industrial units recovered by the state before the end of 2026, Industry Minister Yahia Bachir said on Thursday, reaffirming the government’s commitment to reintegrating formerly seized assets into the country’s productive economy.
Speaking to Dzair Tube during a working and inspection visit to the northeastern province of Annaba, Bachir stressed that the operation is progressing according to a defined timetable.
“We will not stop until the operation is completed. We have a fixed deadline, which is 31 December 2026,” the minister said.
Bachir’s visit forms part of the government’s ongoing oversight of Algeria’s key strategic industrial facilities. Upon arriving at Rabah Bitat International Airport, he was received by Annaba Governor Abdelkrim Laâmouri, alongside local civil and military officials.
The minister’s tour focused on evaluating the operational performance of major industrial complexes, reviewing expansion prospects and identifying measures to enhance productivity and competitiveness.
The inspection is aligned with the government’s broader industrial strategy, which prioritises strengthening domestic manufacturing, encouraging industrial investment and improving the competitiveness of Algerian industry. Authorities view the rehabilitation of recovered industrial assets as a central component of efforts to diversify the economy, expand productive capacity and reduce dependence on imports.
