Brahim Ghali: The Polisario Front Rejects Any Negotiations That Undermine the Sahrawi People’s Right to Self-Determination

Algiers – November 2025 – In a firm and unambiguous declaration, the President of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) and Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali, reaffirmed that the Sahrawi national movement will not engage in any negotiations that fail to respect the inalienable right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination and independence.
Delivering a resolute speech on Saturday before the leadership of both the Polisario Front and the Sahrawi State, President Ghali underscored that no peace process can have legitimacy unless it is rooted in international legality and anchored in the principles of decolonization. He reiterated that unilateral approaches, often pushed by external powers, would only deepen the conflict, perpetuate injustice, and endanger the fragile stability of the Maghreb and the Sahel region.
“The Polisario Front will not participate in any negotiation that does not fully recognize the right of the Sahrawi people to decide their own destiny,” President Ghali declared, asserting the movement’s unwavering commitment to the path of justice and sovereignty.
Referring to the latest United Nations Security Council resolution on Western Sahara, President Ghali noted that the document explicitly mentions both the Sahrawi people and the Polisario Front, reaffirming their status as indispensable actors in the resolution of the long-standing conflict. He emphasized that the central equation in resolving the Western Sahara question remains the Sahrawi people and the Sahrawi People’s Liberation Army, both of which continue to resist Moroccan occupation and its systematic attempts to distort international consensus — often with the support of complicit and influential members of the Security Council.
President Ghali also took direct aim at the Moroccan monarchy, describing King Mohammed VI’s recent speech as “weak and deceptive,” exposing a regime that continues to mislead its own citizens and manipulate public opinion, much as it did during the 1975 advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which unequivocally rejected Morocco’s territorial claims over Western Sahara.
He accused the Moroccan regime of exporting its domestic crises — political, social, and economic — to the international stage by weaponizing the Western Sahara issue as a distraction from mounting internal instability. “The monarchy seeks refuge in UN resolutions,” Ghali said, “yet those resolutions have never once legitimized its illegal occupation.”
In his concluding remarks, the Sahrawi President extended his heartfelt congratulations to the brotherly Algerian people on the occasion of the 71st anniversary of the glorious November 1st Revolution, praising Algeria’s steadfast and principled position in defense of the just cause of the Sahrawi people and in support of liberation movements rooted in international legitimacy and justice.
