TIPAZA, Algeria — The CET Resort in Tipaza is entering a new phase following its rehabilitation and modernisation, presenting a renewed hospitality offering built around its distinctive architectural heritage, Mediterranean setting and expanded range of leisure and accommodation facilities.
An exclusive Dzair Tube report highlights the transformation of the resort, portraying it as a destination that brings together the character of Algeria’s coastal heritage with contemporary hospitality and a broader range of services for families, tourists and members of the Algerian diaspora.
Visitors interviewed for the report emphasised the resort’s natural setting and atmosphere. An international visitor described it as “Heaven on earth”, encouraging others to discover Algeria and its coastal destinations. An Algerian visitor similarly highlighted the sense of tranquillity and comfort she associates with the complex, recommending it to Algerian families, foreign tourists and members of the diaspora.
A legacy rooted in Algeria’s tourism history
The resort dates back to the late 1960s and forms part of the network of tourist complexes developed in Tipaza under the direction of renowned architect and urban planner Fernand Pouillon. The CET complexes in Tipaza — including Tipaza-Club, La Corne d’Or and Matarès — are among Pouillon’s notable Algerian tourism projects.
The complex’s architectural identity reflects Pouillon’s approach to integrating modern hospitality infrastructure with local architectural references and the surrounding landscape. Its proximity to Tipaza’s Mediterranean coastline and archaeological heritage further reinforces its distinctive character.
Following rehabilitation and modernisation works carried out in 2021 and 2022, the resort has reopened with upgraded facilities while retaining elements of its established architectural identity.
Its accommodation offer includes furnished apartments and residences overlooking the beach, ranging from F1 to F4 configurations, allowing the complex to accommodate families of different sizes, including those travelling with children.
The resort has also developed a self-contained holiday environment, with a beach, landscaped areas, shops, swimming pools and recreational spaces available within the complex.
From pools and recreation to a broader hospitality offer
Swimming facilities remain among the resort’s main attractions during the summer season.
The distinctive guitar-shaped swimming pool can accommodate up to 150 people and reaches a depth of three metres, with separate areas for adults and children.
A larger swimming complex comprises three sections: a main pool with a depth of 1.5 metres, a pool for young children and a dedicated pool for pregnant women.
The resort’s food and beverage offering is similarly designed to combine Algerian traditions with international influences.
Its Port Restaurant has undergone renovation and modernisation while retaining elements of its traditional character. The menu combines French, Spanish and Italian dishes with Algerian cuisine, while seafood remains a central feature.
Fresh fish and seafood dishes are offered alongside Spanish paella, which has attracted interest among foreign visitors. Traditional Algerian dishes, including chakhchoukha, chorba and couscous, are also available, together with a range of salads and appetisers.
A renewed focus on domestic tourism
According to a representative of the Tipaza Tourism Management Company, preparations for the 2026 summer season began as early as September 2025, with the objective of improving services for holidaymakers, visitors and members of the Algerian community abroad.
More than 1,000 beds have been prepared at CET Resort for the current season.
Management is also placing emphasis on domestic tourism, particularly by offering significant price reductions aimed at making stays more accessible to Algerian families.
The company is simultaneously pursuing the development of other facilities under its management, including Golden Horn Resort and Matarès, as part of efforts to improve the tourism infrastructure and services available across Tipaza.
For CET, the latest phase represents an effort to combine the value of a landmark in Algeria’s modern tourism history with the expectations of a new generation of visitors — preserving its architectural identity while expanding the range and quality of the experience it offers.
