Geneva Consulate Hosts Diaspora Start-up Forum to Boost Investment Links

Sofiane Chaib, Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of the national community abroad, joined by videoconference an information day organised by the Consulate General of Algeria in Geneva, as authorities intensify outreach to the diaspora to support the country’s start-up ecosystem.
Held under the theme “Algeria’s Start-up Ecosystem: Opportunities and Prospects,” the session also featured Noureddine Ouadah, Minister of the Knowledge Economy, Start-ups and Micro-enterprises, and brought together more than 200 members of the Algerian community in Switzerland, including investors, entrepreneurs and project holders.
Now in its second edition, the initiative is part of a broader effort to deepen links with Algerians abroad and channel diaspora skills and capital into national development priorities. It coincided with Mr Ouadah’s working visit to Switzerland and showcased investment opportunities alongside recent reforms aimed at improving the business environment.
Mr Chaib stressed the government’s focus on mobilising diaspora expertise, in line with the policy direction set by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, pointing to measures designed to attract talent and encourage entrepreneurial activity, particularly in the start-up sector.
He reaffirmed the foreign ministry’s commitment to supporting Algerians abroad in structuring and implementing investment projects in coordination with relevant institutions. The event concluded with a question-and-answer session addressing participants’ concerns and presenting available incentives, highlighting the diaspora’s role in sustaining Algeria’s economic momentum.
