Government Reviews National Artificial Intelligence Strategy as Algeria Accelerates Digital Transformation Agenda

Algeria’s Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb chaired a government meeting on Monday dedicated to reviewing the draft national strategy on artificial intelligence, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s services.
The statement underlines that Algeria, under the impetus of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, has in recent years embarked on a sustained drive to modernise public administration and advance its digital transformation agenda.
Within this framework, the national artificial intelligence strategy is presented as a continuation of this momentum, aiming to move the country towards a development model anchored in knowledge production, innovation, and mastery of emerging technologies.
The strategy is structured around three foundational pillars: data, digital infrastructure, and human capital, identified as the essential prerequisites for building sustainable national capacity in the field of artificial intelligence.
Once approved by the Council of Ministers, the strategy will be translated into operational action plans, with clearly defined priorities and an implementation timetable designed to ensure concrete rollout.
In parallel, and in line with high-level directives aimed at accelerating digitalisation and modernising public services, the government also examined the proposed launch of the national digital services portal, “Dzair Digital Services”.
The executive stressed the importance of reinforcing digitalisation momentum and expanding access to public services through both the online platform and a dedicated mobile application, with the objective of delivering simpler, higher-quality services, reducing citizen mobility, streamlining administrative procedures, and strengthening transparency.
