Lourenço: Algeria a “brotherly country and a reliable, constant ally”
By Dr. Hana Saada
ALGIERS — Angolan President João Lourenço on Tuesday described Algeria as a “brotherly country and a reliable, constant ally”, crediting Algerian support with Angola’s path to independence and sovereignty.
Speaking during an extraordinary joint session of Algeria’s parliament at the Palace of Nations in Algiers, attended by Brahim Boughali and members of the government, Lourenço said the two countries share longstanding values that form the foundation of strong bilateral relations.
He praised Algeria’s support for Angola and referred to the shared historical legacy linking the two nations.
Lourenço said Algeria’s backing enabled Angola to emerge as an independent and sovereign state fully aware of the scale of the challenges it faces.
