Tebboune, Lourenço exchange highest state honours in Algiers

ALGIERS — Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Angolan President João Lourenço on Monday exchanged the highest state distinctions of their respective countries during an official ceremony in Algiers.
Lourenço awarded Tebboune the Order of Agostinho Neto in recognition of his contribution to strengthening bilateral relations and his support for the Angolan people.
The Angolan president also praised Algeria’s international standing.
Tebboune, recipient of the “Sadr” medal of the National Order of Merit, awarded Lourenço the “Athir” medal in recognition of his role in consolidating bilateral relations and preserving historical ties of fraternity, solidarity and cooperation between the two countries.
The distinction also recognised Lourenço’s commitment to African unity and support for just causes at regional and international levels.
