N’DJAMENA — Chad’s Prime Minister Allamaye Halina received on Monday a delegation of experts from Algerian utility group Sonelgaz in the capital N’Djamena, as preparations advance for a 40-megawatt electricity generation project.
The meeting launched the preparatory phase of the project aimed at strengthening Chad’s electricity production capacity and improving power supply, according to a statement from Sonelgaz.
The talks were held in the presence of senior members of the Chadian government and the Algerian ambassador to Chad, and covered technical and organisational aspects of the project.
Halina stressed the strategic importance of the initiative and highlighted Sonelgaz’s technical expertise in electricity generation, transmission and distribution, while commending Algeria–Chad cooperation in development-oriented sectors.
Sonelgaz representatives reaffirmed commitment to delivering the project in line with technical standards and within scheduled timelines, positioning the group as a key African energy development partner.
Officials said the project reflects a broader shift in Algeria’s cooperation with African countries, particularly in energy infrastructure and capacity-building.
