Algeria opens data rooms for 2026 hydrocarbon Bid Round from June 1
By Dr. Hana Saada
ALGIERS — Algeria will open access to data rooms from June 1, 2026, as part of its international “Algeria Bid Round 2026” licensing process, the national hydrocarbons agency said on Monday.
The bid round covers several exploration zones, including El Borma II and El M’Zaid Nord in Ouargla, Illizi Centre I and East Bordj Omar Driss I in Illizi, El Hadjira III in Touggourt, Touggourt South, and El Benoud East in El Bayadh.
The Algerian Agency for the Valorisation of Hydrocarbon Resources (ALNAFT) said access to technical and geoscientific data will allow international operators to evaluate exploration opportunities under the 2026 licensing round.
ALNAFT President Samir Bekhti said the process aims to “open a new chapter of partnerships, investment and technological development” with international energy companies, during remarks delivered at a conference in Algiers organised with the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers.
He noted that the initiative is intended to provide deeper insight into Algeria’s mining potential and support a more accurate assessment of available upstream opportunities.
Bekhti added that the bid round reflects a strategy to build a “transparent, competitive and attractive” investment environment based on long-term partnerships.
He said Algeria is adapting to ongoing global energy transitions driven by advanced technologies, artificial intelligence and digital exploration tools.
