Army Chief Chanegriha: Algeria resilient amid geopolitical upheavals

ALGIERS — General Saïd Chanegriha said Algeria has preserved its stability amid mounting geopolitical tensions through economic resilience, social cohesion and military readiness.
Speaking during a meeting with personnel of the Third Military Region as part of a working visit, Chanegriha said the international environment is marked by escalating geopolitical tensions, supply-chain disruptions, rising inflation and slowing economic growth.
He said Algeria’s resilience rests first on the country’s economic solidity, supported by major strategic projects including the Béchar–Gara Djebilet railway line in Tindouf province, which he described as a long-term foundation for strengthening national economic capacity and strategic positioning.
Chanegriha identified social cohesion and the strength of the domestic front as a second pillar of stability.
He also described the armed forces as the cornerstone of Algeria’s strategic resilience, saying the operational readiness and permanent vigilance of the Algerian People’s National Army contribute not only to securing national territory but also to reinforcing Algeria’s image as a stable regional actor.
He linked growing foreign confidence in Algeria to repeated visits by senior military and political officials from partner countries and to Algeria’s increasing presence on regional and international agendas.
Chanegriha added that the country’s recent trajectory under President Abdelmadjid Tebboune represents a strategic investment in “comprehensive resilience” amid global transformations.
