BY Dr. Hana Saada
ALGIERS — The Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, Abdelkader Djellaoui, chaired a coordination meeting on Saturday in Algiers dedicated to reviewing the progress of sectoral projects and examining upcoming investment programmes, according to a ministry statement.
The meeting focused on assessing the implementation status of projects carried out between September 2025 and June 2026, as well as reviewing planned investment programmes scheduled for launch in the coming years.
The session, the tenth in a series of periodic meetings held by the minister with senior sector officials, brought together the chief executives of key public agencies, including the National Agency for the Study and Monitoring of Railway Investment Projects (ANESRIF), the National Agency for the Realisation of Port Infrastructure (ANRIP), the Algerian Motorways Company (ADA), and the Algiers Metro Operating Company (SEMA), alongside technical executives from the respective institutions.
Discussions covered progress updates on ongoing projects as well as those already launched or planned, particularly in relation to the development of the road and motorway network, local development support programmes for provinces, as well as railway, port and airport infrastructure projects, guided transport systems, and digital transformation initiatives within the sector.
The meeting also examined proposals related to future investment programmes, with emphasis placed on the completion of strategic projects and the evaluation of ongoing operations included in the 2026 investment plan.
According to the same source, participants also reviewed ways to streamline the investment framework and improve programming and monitoring mechanisms, with the aim of enhancing project management efficiency and rationalising public expenditure.
