Tizi Ouzou: Interior Minister Launches 2026 Summer Season, Oversees Cable Transport Project Inauguration
TIZI OUZOU — Interior, Local Assemblies and Transport Minister Saïd Sayoud, accompanied by Public Works and Basic Infrastructure Minister Abdelkader Djellaoui, Tourism and Handicrafts Minister Houria Meddahi, and Civil Protection Director General Boualem Boughelaf, paid a visit on Sunday to the province of Tizi Ouzou to oversee the official launch of the 2026 summer season.
According to a ministry statement, the delegation was received by the provincial governor, Abou Bakr Seddik Boucetta, alongside local civil and military authorities.
During the visit, the ministerial delegation inaugurated the first phase of a cable transport project linking the wilaya headquarters station to Sidi Belloua hospital over a distance of 1.8 km. The project is part of broader efforts to strengthen guided transport systems and improve mobility conditions for citizens.
The delegation also launched construction works for the third phase of the same project, extending from Sidi Belloua hospital to the village of Redjaouna over 1.1 km. The extension aims to further develop urban infrastructure and ease pressure on the road network.
The project is being implemented in partnership with an international operator and Métro d’Alger, under the supervision of the Ministry of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, as part of a wider strategy to enhance execution quality and modernise urban transport systems.
