Bengrina Says Djelfa Can Become a Major National Economic Hub

BY Dr. Hana Saada

DJELFA — Abdelkader Bengrina, leader of the El Binaa al Watani Movement, said on Sunday that the Algerian province of Djelfa has the potential to evolve into a major national economic hub, stressing the need to reduce regional development disparities and better leverage local resources.

Speaking at a popular rally held in the province, Bengrina highlighted Djelfa’s historical and national significance, describing it as a key economic, commercial and developmental link within Algeria. He also praised the contribution of local scholars and reformers to preserving national identity and promoting knowledge.

The party leader extended congratulations to Algerian researcher El Aïd Derdabou, originally from Djelfa, following his victory in the “Stars of Science” programme, as well as to students who successfully passed the Middle School Certificate (BEM) across the country.

Bengrina underlined that Djelfa possesses significant agricultural and livestock potential, positioning it as a strategic pillar in strengthening national food security. He called for transforming this potential into added value through the development of agro-industrial clusters, including units for processing wool and leather, and by encouraging start-ups in agriculture and pastoral activities.

He further stressed the importance of enabling livestock breeders and farmers to move beyond raw production towards integration into value-added industries, while ensuring stable supplies of meat at affordable prices and combating speculation and market distortions.

Addressing youth-related issues, Bengrina warned against social challenges, including drug abuse and psychotropic substances, while praising security forces’ efforts to combat such phenomena. He also cautioned against what he described as misleading content on social media platforms, which he said contributes to misinformation and undermines public trust in state institutions.

On the political front, he said upcoming legislative elections represent an opportunity to select qualified representatives capable of addressing citizens’ concerns and contributing to economic and social development.

He concluded by stating that building Algeria’s future is a collective responsibility, calling for national unity to achieve food security, social stability and improved living conditions, while urging support for his party’s candidates.
