Independent Electoral Authority Announces Breakdown of Approved Candidate Lists

ALGIERS — The Independent National Authority for Elections has released the overall figures relating to approved candidate lists, confirming the acceptance of 793 lists comprising a total of 9,854 candidates, reflecting the scale of participation in the upcoming electoral contest.
According to the published data, women’s representation within the approved lists reached 2,032 candidates, accounting for 21 percent of the total number of candidates.
Youth participation also featured prominently, with 5,304 candidates under the age of 40, representing 54 percent of the overall total, highlighting the strong presence of younger contenders in the electoral landscape.
In terms of educational background, 4,673 approved candidates hold university degrees, representing 47 percent of the total, underscoring the growing participation of higher-educated profiles within the candidate lists.
The figures point to a diversified composition of candidate lists in terms of age distribution, gender representation, and educational attainment, offering a clearer picture of the emerging profile of contenders in this electoral process.
