Strengthening coordination between foreign trade and pharmaceutical sectors to boost domestic production

Algiers — Algeria’s Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, Kamel Rezig, and Minister of Pharmaceutical Industry, Ouacim Kouidri, co-chaired a coordination meeting on Sunday in Algiers focused on enhancing cooperation between the two sectors, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Trade.
The meeting, held at the ministry’s headquarters in the presence of senior officials from both departments, reviewed mechanisms to reinforce coordination and consultation on shared strategic priorities, the statement said.
Discussions took place within the broader framework of government efforts to deepen inter-sectoral integration and support the development of national production capacities, with particular emphasis on improving regulatory alignment and facilitating industrial output in strategic value chains, including pharmaceuticals.
Officials underlined the importance of strengthening institutional coordination to improve policy coherence and support the national economic development agenda, particularly in relation to import substitution and export promotion policies, the statement added.
