Air Algérie has honoured Captain Anissa Boutiba, the first female pilot in Algerian civil aviation, during an official ceremony held in Algiers, recognising her pioneering contribution to the country’s aviation sector.

The tribute was attended by Minister of Interior, Local Assemblies and Transport Saïd Sayoud, along with Air Algérie’s Chief Executive Officer Hamza Benhamouda, who presented Captain Boutiba with an Umrah pilgrimage trip as a gesture of appreciation for her career and achievements.

The ceremony took place on the sidelines of the reception of two new aircraft by the national carrier — a Boeing 737 MAX 8 and an ATR 72-600 — as part of Air Algérie’s programme to expand its fleet and strengthen its transport capabilities.

The recognition of Captain Boutiba highlighted the human dimension of Algeria’s aviation development, celebrating the role of Algerian professionals who have contributed to the growth of the sector over the years.

The latest aircraft deliveries, combined with the inauguration of Air Algérie’s new “Air Taste Factory” catering facility, reflect the company’s broader efforts to modernise its operations, enhance passenger services and support the expansion of Algeria’s air connectivity.
